All opinions are solely the opinion of the author who in exchange for goods and compensation was asked to do this review. There comes a time in the home garden when the house needs some work too. The house is (usually) the biggest structure in the yard and sometimes it needs a good cleaning. That's why I applied the Troy-Bilt 3100 PSI Pressure Washer to the job. I have a two story home and it's hard to reach the upper level siding using a standard garden hose. The north side of my house gets frequent mildew since the sun can never shines there. Troy-Bilt provided me with a pressure washer to test and see how it does in cleaning up my house and garden. The Troy-Bilt 3100 PSI Pressure Washer The Troy-Bilt 3100 PSI pressure…

Disclaimer: The following post is a sponsored review of the Troy-Bilt TB490 XP ™ 4x4 Self-Propelled mower. All opinions are solely the opinion of the author who in exchange for goods and compensation was asked to do this review. In my last post I told you a little bit about my trip to Savannah, Georgia with the Troy-Bilt Brand Ambassadors. Today I get to tell you about one of the products they have sent me to test and talk about, the Troy-Bilt TB490 XP ™ Pushmower!  The the Troy-Bilt TB490 XP ™ is a the new 4x4 Troy-Bilt pushmower which offers all wheel drive when needed in the yard. It's a really cool feature if you have a lawn that happens to be a little difficult to mow due to the terrain. The Testing Ground First here's a little background about where I tested the mower. A Garden Trip to Savannah Georgia

This is a paid endorsement. I have been compensated and provided with products free of charge in return for my honest opinion. All opinions are 100% my own! If you've followed Growing the Home Garden for a while know then you might remember that I've worked with Troy-Bilt as a member of the Saturday6. Through Troy-Bilt I've had the opportunity to get together and work with other garden bloggers and test out their products. Troy-Bilt also brought a group of die-hard gardeners to Miami where we worked on building an urban community garden. In Miami we built raised beds and planted tons of plants to help encourage growing local plants and healthy living. A week ago I returned from another fantastic Troy-Bilt trip as one of their 2017 Brand Ambassadors! This time Troy-Bilt looked back to previous Saturday6 groups and invited them to Savannah, Georgia where we worked on improving…

Troy-Bilt CORE Review – String and Hedge Trimmers

Over the years I've had the pleasure to test out products from Troy-Bilt. Overall I've been very impressed with the quality and the power that they have produced for lawn equipment. Five years later years I still zip around and mow my 1.5 acre yard with the RZT (0 Turn Mower) and have really enjoyed that fact that I never have to mix gas with my current Troy-Bilt weed eater. Soon I'll be going to the vegetable garden to turn it under (or around) with the vertical axis tiller very soon for the fall. All of those products have been great! A few weeks ago they asked me to test something new: The Troy-Bilt CORE line of lawn and garden products. I've always been a bit skeptical about electric/battery powered tools since the gasoline versions always seem to have more power, however that opinion was before I tested the string…

Of Birdnetting, Lawnmowing, and Mistakes in the Garden

We all make mistakes in the garden on occaission. In fact I do it on a regular basis. Usually my mistakes are those where I forget to do something or I intend to come back and finish something but run out of time to get back to it. My biggest mistake is typically taking on too much for what my time allows. Last night when I was out mowing I made a couple of mistakes that led to a lot of frustration with my mower. Let me be clear, the blame is on me and not on my mower! I noticed my issue while beginning to mow the front yard. I turned the mower to go up hill when all of a sudden everything came to a halt. The blades would run but for some reason the mower's transmission would not go. I was stuck. I looked around the mower…

Troy-Bilt Bronco Axis VTT Vertical Tine Tiller Review

Recently I had the pleasure to try out the new Troy-Bilt Bronco VTT Vertical Tine Tiller which they sent me to test and use in my garden. I've used tillers periodically before in my garden and I was very curious to see how this one functioned. It's design is significantly different from traditional tillers. The tines extend down like a cake mixer and spin. It's a very interesting idea but the question is: does the vertical tine tiller work better than a normal tiller? I tested it in the backyard in a spot that was overgrown with grass and weeds. I like using tillers to start new garden areas because they break through the sod much easier than having to dig through the roots of the grass. I've used other methods before like Lasagna Gardening and Raised beds, both of which I like a lot and recommend, but tillers can…

7 Years of Garden Blogging and A Giveaway from Troy-Bilt!

This week marks seven years since I began this blog, Growing The Home Garden. It's amazing to see how many changes have taken place in the garden and in my life since that late October day. When I started this blog our backyard was vacant of trees, plants, and anything resembling a garden. It's grown and so has our family. When I began blogging our oldest daughter was 2 and the next one was due to be born that Thanksgiving. Now there are four kids running around the garden, 3 girls and 1 boy. Everyday is an adventure! My little garden blog grew from barely anyone reading it (or even knowing it existed) into one that now gets a couple thousand visitors a day. My experiences in plant propagation, vegetable gardening, and assorted other garden projects have given me opportunities to work with great companies like Lowe's, Troy-Bilt, and several…

And the Winner is…

Thank you to all the commenters who left entries into the Troy-Bilt CS4235 Wood Chipper giveaway.  It is a great tool for the garden and I know whoever is the winner will enjoy making mountains of mulch! We had 39 commenters* who left some great descriptions of their gardens.  What I found interesting to read were the very different situations each gardener had. Bamboo groves in need of severe pruning, gardeners stuck on islands, managing wilderness areas, removing invasive plants, and many other situations. I'm sure that everyone who posted a comment could make great use of this woodchipper. Unfortunately I can only give away one. To select the winner I used a random number generator and counted to the corresponding commenter in the order in which the comments were made. The winner must be in the continental United States for shipping reasons. If for any reason the winner cannot…

Troy-Bilt CS4325 Wood Chipper Review (and Giveaway!)

As part of the Saturday6 team of bloggers I have the pleasure of getting to test and keep some very cool products. Last year if you recall I tested the RZT (0-Turn mower) which has greatly diminished my mowing time and a 4-cycle trimmer with cultivator attachments.  I'm still enjoying both of those products in the garden. This year I selected the Troy-Bilt CS4325 Chipper/Shredder to test in my garden. I had a big Bradford pear tree that I took down and needed a powerful tool to take care of all the branch debris. The CS4325 Chipper is capable of chipping branches up to 3 inches in size. It has a powerful engine that easily started on the second pull. It's loud by necessity as it takes power to chip these branches into fine little bits of mulch. Ear protection is a necessity. Being able to hear is nice isn't…
