Welcome to Garden Blogger’s Bloom Day at the Home Garden. Be sure to go visit Carol at May Dreams Gardens to tour some of the other blooms and blogs!
I will never advocate planting a Bradford pear
but in the right light
it just might look alright!
Buds beginning to break from their winter slumber.
(this is one of my better pictures!)

The tree will soon be bursting with blooms.

Beneath the Bradford are the daffodils about to bloom.
I hope that they will open soon.
Here is some of our heather blooming still.
Look a little closer you may see a creature,
the first of his kind that I can feature.

This little bee is the first I’ve seen,
the picture is fuzzy but isn’t that how a bee should be?

And now what you’ve been waiting for,
something of which I am so proud.

Flowering weeds that know no bounds!
For a good weed identification guide go to
Blooming weeds definitely count, whether they’re trees or only ankle-high. I think you deserve extra credit for treating us to rhymes as well as flowers, Dave!
you are brave to show your weeds!
i never saw the bee in the first pic-had to go back after you disclosed it. good pics.
Happy Bloom Day…I rather like Henbit.
Gail
Ah, the little buzz one sipping sweet nectar! I spotted our first GA butterflies fluttering around last week!
Dave, yes flowering weeds do count, we think of them more as wildflowers. ;-> Love your little bee friend.
Frances at Faire Garden
Dave, I showed pictures of henbit in bloom in my March 2007 bloom day post, so you can definitely count that. You can also count bees and well, pretty much anything.
On the Bradford Pears, did you ever notice that though the flowers are pretty, they don’t smell very good, at all?
Thanks for joining us for bloom day!

Nan,
The funny thing about weeds is that they are only weeds if you don’t like them! I like a certain amount of weediness. The henbit and clover don’t bother me, I’m not sure what the white weed was yet but I’ll keep looking for that one!
Tina,
It was a chance meeting with that bee. I wish my camera could take better pictures hopefully I can upgrade some day!
Gail,
Me too!
Skeeter,
We should start seeing some of them soon here. So far I’ve seen a grasshopper, the bee, a wasp and a million ladybugs this season. Spring is almost here (or maybe it is and it just isn’t official yet)!
Frances,
Wildflowers, yep I have wildflowers ;). I agree they are only weeds if you don’t want them!
Carol,
The Bradford pears smell awful when they are fully in bloom. The two in our yard are just like the same two trees the builder put in to every yard in our neighborhood. Way over-planted. Where I used to work there were a dozen of the planted in the parking lot. When the all bloomed the parking lot smelled like rotting meat. They are one tree that shouldn’t be sold in garden centers!
Those uncooperative bees! They never want to pose for pictures.
Pears are in full bloom down here in GA. Beautiful to the eye! spotted frogs and lizards while working in the yard yesterday! Yellow pine pollen showing up too. arggg.. Spring has arrived in GA….
How nice to see the sun rise – don’t see much of that in England. Still, we get good flowers. Lovely photos.
