It’s that time again! One of my favorite seasons of the year when the leaves change color and begin their graceful decent from the treetops. It’s bittersweet to be sure, since it symbolizes the end of the growing season, but it’s also a time of renewal as those leaves become compost and nourish our beloved trees and plants in future growing seasons. As our days grow shorter and more and more leaves change color they should be highlighted and celebrated which is the intent of the Fall Color Project! Each year bloggers go out and try to picture what fall looks like in their area. Here with the Fall Color Project I collect those posts all together so that we can see fall all over our country and other countries where we may not be able to travel. Through photographs and pictures we can follow the changing of the leaves from the north and down into the deep south.
It is very easy to participate in the Fall Color Project 2010. First you need a blog, any blog. You don’t have to be a garden blogger to participate! Next you need a camera to go out and get the best pictures of fall in your area that you can find. Of course if you are on vacation and take some pictures while enjoying your trip that is perfect too. Then post about your fall colors and mention the Fall Color Project 2010 with a link to this post or www.GrowingTheHomeGarden.com so that people can see what others have posted. Be sure to include where your photos were taken (City, State, Province, etc.). Lastly come back to this post and comment with a link to your post so that I can find it. That’s all there is to it!
Every Friday I’ll put together a summary of all the Fall Color Project 2010 posts that were written during that week with links back to your post. I also include a thumbnail picture from your post with a link to your site. (If you don’t want me to use your photo please be sure to tell me otherwise I’ll include the picture and link.)
I can’t wait to see your photos for Fall Color Project 2010 this year! Each year the colors and photos are always amazing! Feel free to explore the pictures that were taken for the Fall Color Project 2009 or 2008.
If you would like to share The Fall Color Project 2010 and promote it with a badge on your blog please feel free to use the ones below! (More badges may be coming in the next couple weeks.) Just link to the picture to post it on your blog and edit the link to point to this post.

I've got my badge up for you. It will be fun to see all the fall colors from around the world.
I'm going to try to participate in this, Dave, but right now I'm so buried in assignments, I scarcely have time to visit my blogging buds, let along blog myself, let alone tend the garden. Things aren't changing colour here yet, as we haven't had any cool weather, but I have noticed a few maples and burning bushes colouring up elsewhere.
When do you want to start this event? The leaves have not begun to change here. I would like to participate.
Color is just starting to show in my area, but I did a little foliage followup combo post.
Fall Foliage Friday
I've hurt my hand, so my ability to participate my be limited.
What a fabulous idea, thank you for hosting, and for including us "foreigners" in the journey. I will love tracking how Autumn here in the South West of England corresponds to the different States. My fist post is at Plantaliscious.
I have my first Fall foliage post (Hunterdon County, NJ) up at http://www.obsessiveneuroticgardener.com/2010/09/yo-fall-what-up.html. This is an incredible idea and I look forward to all of the posts.
Hi Dave — love the new logo! 🙂 I'll put it in my sidebar. As jodi said, we still haven't got our brightest colour yet, but hopefully in the next week or two. I'll make my Fall Colour post then.
Dave,
First, congratulations on the baby! And many congratulations to your wife! As the mother of six, I know what's involved in a growing family!
This is a fabulous idea, and I definitely want to do it. I'll also tell my oldest daughter, who is spending the semester in Rome, to send some autumn-y Rome-y pictures our way. I'm no techy, but I will try to get your badge up.
I want to participate and yes please send me the code. Love that you do this every year. My email…and close in the spaces as I put them there to keep the bots from spamming me. p u m p k i n s 3 9 0 1 @triad.rr.com
This is a great site. I am looking forward to participating. I am just learning how to do this on my site.
Dear Dave
I just saw this over at Nancy's (leaping Greenly) and YES !! I want to have fun with this project too : )
Fingers crossed I can get some great pictures to add to your collection !
Joy : )
PS .. Dear Dave
You may notice that Canadians spell coloUr differently ? : ) LOL
I've got the FCP badge up! And all my fall color shots posted will be photographed using Ginger (my iPhone).
I've added the badge to the top of my blog, Dave…but will be a little while before I send a post about my fall colors. It is only now beginning to turn. I always look forward to your project;-)
Dear Dave .. I have my post up and running for a foothold in your Colour project : ) but how do I link in my comment here ? Duh moment ?
Joy : )
Hi Dave, thought I would add a link to post about a recent trip to Westonbirt Arboretum. Not quite at its best, but still pretty special. The post is on my blog. Looking forward to following more entries as the fall progresses!
Hi there, Dave! I know you already found my post, but I thought I'd leave a link here anyway, just to follow the rules. Thanks for hosting TFCP again this year!

Just found your Fall project. I will participate but it may be awhile before I see much here in North and Central Texas. I will enjoy the views until then.
My latest Fall photos are up at: http://www.obsessiveneuroticgardener.com/2010/10/wordless-wednesday.html.
Keep the fall photos coming. It is an awesome read.
Here is my entry to fall color Dave. http://tinaramsey.blogspot.com/2010/10/garden-blogger-fall-color-project.html
I did a post – even though we're not quite at our peak of fall color yet — at least we know where to find it! I also offered to add some readers' photos to the post – hope to get a few. Thanks so much for hosting! Jennifer

I have put up my fall post! http://shawnannsgarden.blogspot.com/2010/10/fall-color-in-commonwealth.html
Hi Dave — some beautiful entries here, as always. I haven't sought out the best of Fall's colour this year, unfortunately, but I took some shots of the view from the front deck this morning and, coupled with a Dickingson poem, made it my small contribution to your project this year. Post is here: http://wp.me/p2bM3-1uG
Dave – I got there with your help and have posted your badge on my site, plus a link! All my pix are taken in Southern England, as are many of the other autumn pictures featured in current blog posts. So here's the link: http://tinyurl.com/2akjo95
Look forward to seeing all the other posts.
Hi Dave,
My post is up, and I've added a badge.

Congratulations on the newest little member of your family!
Hi Dave – good to see you're running this project again this year 🙂
Mine's a simple contribution this time, but I hope you like it!

all photos were taken in Greenwood South Carolina.
Hi Dave, I've been loving watching the posts roll in, but have struggled to find time to put another one together myself! Just missed your Friday post, sorry, but here is my latest: Celebrating Autumn
Dave, Good morning! Finally, we have enough color for a post! http://www.clayandlimestone.com/2010/11/theres-gold-in-them-there-hills-valleys.html Thanks for hosting. gail
Not sure what would be my best, I have been posting furiously to share a beautiful fall season. We just had a first frost so now it is falling downhill.I have fun making sculptures with the leaves and nuts I find when hiking, leaving them for the next person to see and enjoy.
Hi Dave, I've finally written a post on our fall color! Thanks for hosting this;-) Jan

Hi Dave – I thought I'd get away with simplicity this year with my contrasting leaf shot.
However nature confounded me on Sunday by providing perfect lighting conditions and peak leaf colour. I had minutes to grab my camera and see what was happening around the immediate vicinity of where I live 🙂

Hi Dave, I think this may well be my last contribution this year, as most things are over their autumn stage. Thanks so much for hosting, I have loved both taking part and visiting other's contributions. Last Hurrah
Thanks for hosting Dave! Northern CA really can't compare with many other parts of the country, but we do have fall colors and I put up a few pictures here: http://tmousecmouse.blogspot.com/2010/11/california-fall-color.html
Dave,
Wonderful idea to collect fall color picture and put them in one place. Here in Mississippi we still have a lot more fall color to come. The mockernut hickory in my backyard is really beautiful right now, though and I wrote this post about it. http://yardflower.com/?p=2049
This is a great initiative! I wish I had discovered it earlier.
My contribution is a selection of photos of Autumn leaves photographed in my garden in Fleet, Hampshire, UK.
My blog is http://marksvegplot.blogspot.com/
I would love to have you visit!
This is a great idea. I just did a post on some of the fall color at the Tilden Botanic Garden in Berkeley near my house. It's not as dramatic as some of the other posts you've put up, but that's to be expected for coastal California I guess. We get some nice yellows and a good autumnal feel and some bloom species mixed in with our fall foliage.
Thanks for hosting.

Hi Dave, fall color seemed so late this year, but I finally managed to post and link to you.

Happy Thanksgiving!
The fall color has been at its peak here over the last few days, and I've gotten my post up with the best of the color from my garden. Thanks for sponsoring this great project!
I'm finally in! Atlanta has been beautiful lately, with perfect temperatures for being outside. Take a look at the color I found:

What a fun idea! You can see my post here, (the badge is at the bottom) http://www.izelplants.com/blogs/twolipps/2010/11/red-and-yellow-and-orange-oh-my/
Do you have room for one more, Dave? I know, I'm late for northwest Ohio, but thankfully the camera keeps the images fresh. 😉

At the risk of your patience wearing thin, I have a new post on fall fruit color, if you'd like to post a link to it

Although winter is fast upon us, many of the photos in this post were taken within the last week.
