Technically my title is completely incorrect! We did have snow in January and February but this is the first snowfall of the coming winter season. And technically this isn’t even officially winter yet. I’m just breaking all the rules for this post! I’m going wild!
Anyway…yesterday we had a light snowfall. It was the kind of snow that was so wet that when contact was made with the ground it quickly melted into regular old H20. What snow coverage we had on the grassy areas didn’t last long as the air temps were too warm to maintain the frozen precipitation. Despite its brevity the snow was pretty!

I suspect we’ll have more snow this year than in previous years. I’ve heard our winter I supposed to be wetter! Good thing I bought sleds!
Have you had your first snowfall yet?
We've had two snowfalls here in NE Arkansas. One at the end of Nov and I can assume the same one that hit you this time. You can see the pic I snapped on my way out the door at http://www.journeyintogardening.com
WOW! Already! Guess winter is coming after all.
I can't belieeve it Dave that you have snow before we do in the Chicago area! However, we are supposed to get a dusting tonight.

Wish you have nice December. You have a wonderful garden.
Beautiful scenery, indeed!
Here in Finland (northern Europe) we have just had our first snow falls which is odd because usually at this time the whole country is covered with white, especially Lapland.
Last two winters we've had enormous amounts of snow so this situation is quite ok, I think. But white Christmas is welcomed of course. It would be easier for Santa Claus to travel from Lapland, too…
Here's a descriptive video clip from Helsinki (the capital of Finland) exactly one year ago. Not much gardening to do there, ha.
