Saving seeds of squash and zucchini is a very simple process. When the growing season begins to wan start allowing a few squash fruits to grow. They will become large and tough and won’t be well suited for eating but will be perfect for generating seeds.
Once the squash fruits are of a suitable extra large size harvest them and slice them in half. You will cut through some of the seeds but that’s OK there are plenty of seeds in each squash. Scrape out the seeds onto a dry paper towel and allow the seeds to dry out. This may take a day or two. Once dry you can collect the seeds and store them in paper envelopes until you are ready to plant them next year!
For seed saving I like to use Coin Envelopes. Here is a link to some Coin Envelopes I like to use from Amazon (aff.)
You can also make your own seed envelopes. Here is an old post I made with a template for making your own seed envelopes.
