Is it Spring Yet?

Is it spring yet? The weather sure seems like it! Today and tomorrow we are looking at temperatures in the mid to upper 60’s. Yesterday was warm also in the lower 60’s. The difference today will probably be the sun. That bright orange combustible ball of incandescent gas is out and warming things up instead of shyly hiding behind the gray winter clouds. I hope in his exuberance that our old friend the sun doesn’t wake up the bulbs and perennial plants from their winter slumber. Surely the warm temperatures have not lasted long enough for that but you never know. This wacky winter weather will all come to an end in a day or two when old man winter stretches his hand out once again to grasp Tennessee firmly in his embrace. The cold fronts are coming! The cold fronts are coming! This warm snap will be nice while it lasts. I’d better take advantage of it and get off this computer and get out into the yard!

  1. Daffodils are already up here in my garden near Clarksville, but don’t worry they will be ok. It has been warm-how wonderful. I planted some last minute daffodil buys and I hope they do well. Still waiting for the promised rain.

  2. I really enjoyed that warm weather yesterday! I managed to get several long standing chores started or accomplished. Good luck with your daffodils! The winds are very high down here today so the rains must be coming!

  3. Winds are bad here too-rain is definitely coming. Enjoy the day and get some inside chores done. I plan to start some hypertufa troughs. The one I made last week fell apart as I used the wrong type of concrete since it was the only thing I had on hand. Oh well. Talk to you later. Are you going to come to the PPS meeting next Tuesday at Cheekwood? It would probably be really good for you. Lots and lots of gardeners and nice people. It is at 6:30 or 7 pm on the 15th. You don’t need to pay dues to attend, but if you want to go on garden tours then you have to be a member and if you want the newsletter, same deal. Dues are only $20 per year. My friend and I will be there.

Why do more people not comment? I know blogs are not about the comments but they sure make some come back and make me happy when I hear from others. How about you? I know people read but why not talk? Maybe it is just me, I love to talk about gardening and never shut up sometimes. That is why the blog is good because I don’t bore people to death who don’t want to talk gardening-as they don’t have to read, but most do. It is fun.
