The first two items were plants.
I’m a big fan of heucheras (so much so that I grew some from seed this year) and when I saw Heuchera ‘Mystic Angel’ I knew I wanted it for the garden. Its veining pattern is really cool and the silvery foliage will look great underneath one of our Japanese maples. I can’t wait to divide a few new plants off of our new ‘Mystic Angel’ to fill out that area.
The second plant was a sedum called ‘Purple Form’ (Sedum hispanicum minus). Its foliage is soft to the touch and grows into a little mound. It’s now in the sedum garden. I moved an ‘Autumn Joy’ sedum to the center of the bed so that it wouldn’t cover up the new arrival.
The last item was mainly purchased as a functional element but it does look pretty neat. It’s a cast iron hose holder! Last year I just left the hose lying on the ground which wasn’t the most attractive thing in the world. It has an 8 inch spike on the bottom that pushes into the ground to hold itself up. This should do a good job of getting the hose up and out of the way.
I like to go to these shows mainly to see ideas about what we can do in our landscape. I saw some interesting ideas like the green roof bird house and a really cool circular pergola along with many other interesting things. The circular pergola is beyond my means but I may make an attempt at a green roof bird house. It would be a good practice run for my shed if I ever get that project going!
Cool new plants Dave! I love the Sedum, it has great texture & color. Your new hose hook is a good find too.
I am with Racquel, I like that sedum. I have a variety of Heucheras. Waiting to see which ones the voles left over the winter. One vareity that seems to be a consistant grower is ‘Raspberry Ice’ first one to reappear, I like it.
Dave,
Great sedum! I was just making my sedum ‘wish list’ last night as the ones that I planted last fall are looking so great. My ‘Angelina’ is glorious beneath my Japanese Maple.

Great choices. I have a heuchera that looks similar to the one you chose. The coloring is very pretty.
Dave , I am a heuchera fan too ! Have you got “Beauty of Color” ? It’s viening is really interesting .. Harvest Silver is gorgeous in a shady area .. Silver Scrolls outstanding too .. I could go on and on sorry .. I just love them : )
That stand for the hose is also a good idea for me not to plough plants under near the faucet .. thanks for the idea ! Joy
You made some great purchases, Dave. I adore heucheras and there are some beauties to be had. Also LOVE the cast iron hose holder — functional and nice to look at as well. 🙂
Excellent selections Dave. I roll my hose up in an old tire planter; just as functional as your cast iron holder, just looks a lot cheesier. ;~)
I seriously thought about driving to WM County but we had enough excitement with the wildflower fair and a trip to Growild! I love heuchera’s too and think they are the best…especially if they have a H villosa parent. I keep meaning to get a hose hanger like that…the hose is always in the way pg a good photo shot lying on the ground! gail
