It’s been rather hectic over the last couple weeks around here and I’m just now getting to my own Fall Color Project post! I figured a retrospective look back at the last few weeks would find the peak of the fall color season in my area.
Way back on October 12, 2010 we had the first of the trees beginning to change – sassafras!
An oak leaf hydrangea on November 2, 2010 is just beginning to turn. It’s in a sheltered spot in the corner shade garden and probably receives additional heat from the house.
Another shot of the shed on November 5, 2010 shows the gold color more solid in the individual leaves but the tree has lost leaves. Fall is progressing!
November 9th brings more fall color to the Shasta viburnum. It’s been a rough year for many plants and this Shasta has lost more than a few leaves due to drought conditions.
This fall has been spotty at best. Peak time here was probably the middle to the end of October but there are still some trees with leaves hanging on. It won’t be long though until the fall colors are done for this year!
I want your shed! I'll babysit the new baby if you'll come build me a shed like yours.
Love the shed nestled in front of the tree line. I'm a better babysitter than barbara wise, lol.
Dave,
The shed looks great! Guess what I'm painting a shed that looks a lot like it for a customer. Blue with white trim and we are bead boarding the entire inside.
Looks like the colors there are much like ours. I do think this year as been better than in recent years.
Barbara,
LOL! The shed took nearly a year to get this far! I'm glad you like it though!
Darla,
I'm not taking sides on this one!
Randy,
Thanks! I do like the blue color and it would look good with the white trim also. I would love to put beadboard up on the inside. Are you using beaded sheets or actual tongue and groove?
I'm working on a post, but my favorite Japanese maple hasn't hit perfection yet. Either I'll wait a week to post or I'll cheat and include a photo from a past year for it….
While in TN, I enjoyed the beautiful colors of Fall when I could catch a glimpse. I was not lucky enough to be able to catch Monteagle (the mountain) in full glow. I passed it 4 times but not lucky enough to catch the vibrant colors I know it can show. But I was happy with what I was able to see. So pretty but as a daffodil, the colors don’t last long….
Dear Dave (yes .. I can't stop saying it that way .. haha.. must be because of Dave the gnome I have here on guard duty !) .. I am so jealous about your bargain with Southern Comfort .. you would never see anything like that even as a sale here drats ! haha
Our Fall colour disappeared so quickly too .. plus we didn't get the scarlets that we do usually with a decent year .. but .. we can only hope for next year with fingers crossed right ? mean while I'll grumble about that bargain for a while and get over it ? hehehe
Joy : )
I really enjoyed looking at those beautiful Fall pictures. I love the Autumn season with the changing colors on the trees, even though we don't see it that much here in SE Texas.
The trees in my backyard are still as green as they could be.
Wonderful to track how it unfolded around you! My oak leaved hydrangea STILL hasn't turned…
