Here’s a few pictures to start your day. There is something magical about being in the forest at sunrise as things come awake among the trees.
If you have planted a tree for Arbor Day this year please let me know by Thursday evening (here) and I can add a link to your post for Arbor Day on Friday! You don’t have to sign up for the pledge, just tell us about your tree planting in 2008.

Dave, the pics are wonderful. I love the woods like those. But have you ever sat high up in a stand [that you sit in to hunt deer} & watch the sun come up & watch the surrounding area come to life. There is nothing like it. I even had one of those metal chairs in the stand on a piece of carpet for quietness–also a shelf to sit my coffee on. All quiet, the beauty, almost like heaven.
I see this outside my windows each morning through the woods! So exciting when the morning sun rises. The red birds show up at the feeders and life begins a new day…
I dug out a Willow Oak sapling that I will pass along to someone else. We have several hundred trees on our land and just no room for more. In the 6 years we have lived in this house, we have planted 10 Dogwoods, 2 Japanese maples, 1 Bald Cypress, 1 Cedar and 1 Crabapple tree.
Sunrise is such a beautiful time of day, and cedar trees are among my favorite evergreens. 🙂 Lovely.
Love the effect of the sun shining through the trees! Thanks for sharing.
