But the harvest ain’t bad!
Just look at this bunch of tomatoes:
The round orange tomatoes are ‘Woodle Orange’, the round red ones are volunteers, the small and slightly purple tinted are some ‘Cherokee Purple’ tomatoes that didn’t grow as larges as they should have, and the elongated orange tomatoes are ‘Orange Icicle.’ The cherry tomatoes are all from volunteer plants. I told myself this year I would pull up all the volunteer plants that were in bad locations…I failed! The result isn’t too bad though. I’m picking a box like this about every 3-4 days. More than enough to feed our families fresh tomatoes for the summer. Hopefully our harvests will increase and we can get some tomatoes canned before the frosts come in October – oops I said the “F” word!
your tomatoes are beautiful, mine were were destroyed by too much rain and snails/slugs.As I live in the caribbean I will plant some again soon and hopefully share and my blog(in progress)Thanks for sharing.
I didn't have the heart to pull any of my volunteer tomato plants. I can't wait to see the results.
The "F" word, you are too funny Dave…. I let a volunteer tomato alone and wow, it is rewarding me this summer…..
I let a volunteer tomato grow last year–it was so sour! Glad you had luck with yours. Love the different colors in the box-beautiful!
Our mater harvest is way over here. I also read where someone had the guts to write the 'S' word.
Man, I thought this was a family blog! Watch yer mouth!
Good harvest Dave. I got 1 regular & about 10 yellow pear. Will try for more for this Fall. Oh & about 6 patio. Not what I'd call a good harvest.
I love looking at all you are growing. I have such a small space that I was blessed. the one tomato plant that I put in this year gave a wonderful and tasty harvest. Unforunately, it's done. Now the garden and gardener will rest. Just a cover crop-no fall garden:(
I am getting tomatoes but not in the quantities I expected, plants are gettinng a little ragged looking.
